Connecting your device to your network with netsetup

Learn how to connect your device to your network and get it online in just a few steps.

We strongly recommend Ethernet for the most stable and reliable connection. Wi-Fi is also supported.

Before starting, read the network connectivity requirements and share them with your IT department. We recommend having IT complete the setup, particularly if your network uses enterprise Wi-Fi, firewall restrictions or static IP addresses. Ask them which configuration to use.

Is this the right guide? Look for netsetup • RIS… at the top of the setup page. If your page has a Setup device button instead, use the guide for the earlier setup interface.

Video Instructions for netsetup

1. Connect and power on

For Ethernet, plug the device into your network before turning it on. It will request its network settings automatically using DHCP.

If your network requires custom settings, get these from IT before proceeding. Do not guess IP addresses, gateways or DNS servers.

If the device connects automatically, you can skip to Access netsetup after setup below to check its connectivity.

2. Open netsetup

If the device cannot get online at startup, it creates its own Wi-Fi network after a short wait.

  1. Join the device’s Wi-Fi network on your phone or computer. Its name and password are printed on the device label.

  2. Open the setup page when prompted. If nothing opens, visit http://10.42.0.1/

  3. If your phone warns that this network has no internet, choose to stay connected.

Stay on the device’s Wi-Fi network throughout setup. If your computer disconnects during testing, rejoin it and return to netsetup. Do not switch back to your usual Wi-Fi until every service check is green and the connection has been saved successfully.

3. Configure and test

  1. Select Add new network, then Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

  2. For Wi-Fi, select your network and enter the credentials supplied by IT.

  3. Leave IP assignment on automatic unless IT has provided a specific configuration.

  4. Select Test connection.

During a Wi-Fi test, the device’s own network briefly disappears. Keep netsetup open. Wait up to two minutes, then rejoin the device’s network in your Wi-Fi settings and return to netsetup.

Your phone may automatically join another network during this interruption. Check that you have rejoined the device’s network, even if your phone says it has no internet.

4. Confirm all services are green, then save

Every service check should be green before you consider setup complete. Reaching the router or having partial connectivity is not enough.

If any service check is not green:

  • Take a screenshot of the complete results.

  • Share it with your IT department or Reshape support.

  • Resolve the issue and repeat the test.

Save anyway keeps the configuration despite unsuccessful checks. It does not mean the device is fully connected.

When all service checks are green, select Save connection. Stay connected to the device’s network until netsetup confirms that the connection was saved successfully.

If you disconnect before seeing confirmation, rejoin the device’s network and return to netsetup to check the outcome. After successful confirmation, you can reconnect your phone or computer to your usual network.

Access netsetup after succesful configuration

You can open netsetup again to inspect or change saved network settings and check connectivity.

From a phone or computer on the same local network as the device, open:

Replace RIS0312 with your device’s serial number.

Access depends on your network and computer settings. Company networks may prevent devices from communicating with each other or block .local address discovery—even when both are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

If the address does not work, ask IT for the device’s IP address and open it with port 3000. For example, if its IP address is 192.168.1.42, open http://192.168.1.42:3000/.

Check connectivity or get help

Open Connectivity in netsetup to run the checks again. This page shows the current network configuration and the result for each service.

All service checks should be green. If any are not, send a screenshot of the complete page to your IT department or Reshape support.

The device’s Wi-Fi network is not visible

If you can access netsetup over your existing network, open Settings and enable Direct access. This keeps the device’s own Wi-Fi network available until you turn it off and can run alongside an Ethernet connection.

Otherwise, restart the device and allow time for its startup connectivity check. Its own network opens if it cannot get online during that check.

An internet outage after startup does not normally make the device’s Wi-Fi network appear again.
