Quick Start Guide

Step-by-step setup, initialization, and run instructions for the High-throughput Imaging Device with a built-in screen.

🔌 Setup

  1. Connect the supplied power and Ethernet cables to the back of the device.

    • For details on power and network requirements, scan the QR code on the front of this document or visit Network Requirements.
      ​

  2. Wait for the device to start up.

    • A loading indicator will appear on the screen while the device is booting (~30 seconds).

    • Once ready, the screen will show 🟠 Ready to initialize.

      ​

⚡️ Initialize

  1. Ensure input carousel is empty and there is at least one empty petri magazine in the output carousel.

    • Any plates remaining inside the device will be purged into the output magazine during initialization.

    • Check the screen afterwards to see which column to clear.
      ​

  2. Press the ⏯️ primary button to begin initialization.

    • The screen will show 🟠 Initializing while the device calibrates (~3 min).

    • Once complete, the screen will show 🟢 Ready.

    • If the screen shows 🔵 Offline, follow the troubleshooting guidelines here.

ℹ️ About initialization

  • Initialization prepares the device to be used for the first time, or after a restart or power cycle.

  • During initialization, the device rotates the input and output carousels and the internal mechanism to safe positions.

▶️ Start a run

  1. Ensure the output carousel has an empty petri magazine in every column, and the screen shows 🟢 Ready.

  2. Fill the input carousel on the left with plates to be analyzed.

    • Load plates into the petri magazines, then slide each magazine into a column of the input carousel until it clicks into place.

    • ❗ All plates must have lids, and plates must not be loaded upside-down.

    • Press the ⬅️ ➡️ rotation buttons on the left to rotate the input carousel and access more columns.
      ​

  3. Press the ⏯️ primary button to start a run.

    • The screen will show In progress while the device is imaging.

    • If plates are detected in the output carousel, the run will be automatically cancelled. The screen will show which magazines need to be cleared.
      ​

  4. Once the run is complete, remove the plates from the output carousel's petri magazines.

    • The screen will show 🟢 Ready once complete.

ℹ️ Plate categorization / sorting

  • During the run, plates are imaged and analyzed based on the selected analysis in the Reshape Quality platform.

  • Each plate is sorted into a category, with categories mapped to specific output columns and indicated by a consistent color on both the screen and in the UI.

  • The red category indicates an error (e.g. missing barcode, failed analysis). Other colors correspond to the categories configured in the Reshape Quality platform.

⏸️ Pause or cancel a run

  1. To pause a run, press the ⏯️ primary button once.

    • The screen will show 🟣 Paused while the device is paused.

    • To resume the run, press the ⏯️ primary button once more.
      ​

  2. To cancel a run, press and hold the ⏯️ primary button for 3 seconds.

    • The device will stop loading new plates and finish imaging any in-progress plates.

    • The screen will show Cancelling while in-progress plates finish imaging.

    • The device may eject plates back to the input carousel. If this happens, a notification will appear on screen — re-seat the ejected plates in their magazine on the input carousel before starting a new run.

🧹 Initiate Cleaning Mode

  1. Hold the ⏯️ primary button for 3 seconds while the device is in 🟢 Ready state.

    • The screen will show 🟡 Cleaning Mode once active.

  2. Follow the full cleaning protocol found here, including PPE requirements and step-by-step disassembly instructions.

  3. Press the ⏯️ primary button to exit 🟡 Cleaning Mode.

    • The device will re-initialize automatically (~3 min).

    • The screen will show 🟢 Ready when the device is ready for a new run.
